The proper way to install a software update (in Samsung devices).

Lately we have seen many posts on the Samsung Members forum regarding issues after software updates, so, today, we at Tech Geeks bring you the proper way to install an update for Samsung devices.

For this, you will need Samsung Smart Switch PC. Download Smart Switch PC here: https://www.samsung.com/global/download/smartswitchwin/

Now, install Smart Switch PC and open it. Before connecting your device, click on MORE on the top right corner and click Install device drivers. After the installation is complete, connect your device and the update will show up on the home screen, install the update from there. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE BEFORE THE UPDATE IS COMPLETE.

The update size will be bigger than the actual update because it downloads the complete update configuration with the files.

Now, why were recommend this procedure over just downloading it by mobile data or WiFi.

When you download an update via mobile data or WiFi, it just downloads and installs the update from these files And if one of the files go missing, the post update experience might not be good, and there might be serious issues with the working of the device.

But if the update is downloaded via Smart Switch, the update is downloaded along with the whole firmware which is developed (which justifies why the update size is very big while updated via Smart Switch compared to OTA update) and also verifies the files which are downloaded, reducing the risks of software failure after update.
